2011: Become a Team Leader at your workplace!
The aim of Bike to Work Week is to promote commuter cycling as a lifestyle choice through behaviour change to promote healthy living and greener communities. Workplaces are encouraged to participate by forming a team or multiple teams, which are led by a team leader.
The team leader acts as the liaison between the Bike to Work committee and co workers. Their job is to encourage and help motivate colleagues to try biking to work. It is the team leaders’ responsibility to register their team, keep track of workplace statistics and submit results electronically at the end of the week.
It’s easy- motivate and encourage your colleagues to bike to work! The Team Leader also acts as a resource person and tries to encourage first time commuters by reducing the barriers to cycle commuting – finding a bike for someone to borrow if they don’t have one, or encouraging people to organizing groups to ride with in order to build confidence and have fun.
Most of all, the Team Leader needs to believe in the commuter spirit! It is a fun and rewarding experience so why not get involved? A training session will be provided on Wednesday May 18th 7PM at the Revelstoke Community Centre (600 Campbell Ave.).
